A School of Prayer

A Message from Our Rector

Dear parishioners,

You may have noticed in the Bulletin the references we make to the “School of Prayer.” This term does not refer directly to any particular class or even to any series of classes. Rather, our entire Parish life with all its activities should be a “school of prayer.” That is, as soon as one comes on our property, he/she should immediately sense the presence of God. And, everything that happens here should lead us to an encounter with God. Thus, here we learn to pray. Remember, that in its most basic form, prayer is “the lifting up of the mind and heart to God.”
In understanding that our whole Parish is a school of prayer, you will notice in our recent Bulletins that throughout the coming “pastoral year,” St. Jude will offer classes and seminars about the Bible, the Liturgy of the Hours, church history, Ignatian Prayer, the Rosary, plus  retreats and missions.

God is continuously communicating His love to all in all things. Our task is to be aware of this and discern His loving presence in our daily lives. Hopefully, our Parish life will help you with this awareness.

God is doing great and wonderful things for us here at the Cathedral. Let us praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for His presence and awesome works!

Your brother in Christ,
Fr. Proulx
