Very Reverend
Joseph L. Waters, JCL

Fr. Joseph Waters was born in Babylon, NY, the 9th of 10 children; Father moved to St. Petersburg in 1973. A graduate of St. Pete Catholic he did seminary studies at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami and the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Ordained in 1987, Father has served as a parochial vicar of several parishes, worked as a diocesan administrator, served at St. John Vianney College Seminary, and was named Pastor of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Temple Terrace in 2000.  Father Waters was named Rector of the Cathedral in 2009.  He also is a canonist, with a Licentiate of Canon Law (JCL) from Catholic University of America in Washington.  In addition to his work at the Cathedral, Father Waters is called upon frequently as a canon law expert to serve in various tribunal roles in dioceses across the country and has served as Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Venice since 2015.


 

Rev. Alex Padilla

Fr. Alex Padilla II was born and raised in Spring Hill, Florida, growing up as a member of St. Theresa parish. His elementary and middle school education was split between both Catholic and Protestant schools, a diverse experience which he found to be a very enriching. He eventually graduated from Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School as a member of their first graduating class, and attended the University of Central Florida for two years before deciding to pursue priestly formation. He attended St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami for three years, and was then asked to attend the North American College in Rome, where he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Ordained to the priesthood in 2016, he spent time in residence at Incarnation parish in Tampa, while also ministering at his former high school, before returning to Rome to continue his studies in canon law. He is currently finishing his Licentiate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of America. He loves being at the Cathedral and is blessed to be a part of, and minister to, the community here!


 

 

Rev. Joseph Eddy,
O. de M.

Fr. Joseph Eddy was raised in Montrose, PA. He is the youngest for three children. Fr. Joseph attended Marywood University and received a bachelors degree in Special Education. During college, he discerned a call to the become a Mercedarian Friar. Fr. Joseph entered postulancy in September 2001 and made his first vows in May 2003. After five years of priestly studies at St Charles Borromeo Seminary, he was ordained to the priesthood on August 15th 2008. Fr. Joseph served as parochial vicar of the Cathedral of St Jude in 2008. He was appointed vocation director of the Mercedarian Friars in September 2009. Fr. Joseph served in this position for six years and resided in Philadelphia. In July 2015, He was reassigned to the Cathedral of St Jude and named Superior of St. Peter Nolasco Residence.
